PROPERTY DETAILS

A splendid oceanfront villa, dating back to 19th century, with landscaped gardens and pool, occupying one of the most spectacular panoramic positions along the renowned Ligurian Riviera overlooking the sea.
The villa enjoys an exclusive, unique location, with dramatic sea view that from the property extends to the Gulf of La Spezia and across Portovenere to Tino and Palmaria.
From the villa you can easily reach the local beach, one of the most attractive sandy beaches along the coastline, walking through a lovely short path or by lift.
The property, built during 19th century, once belonged to Baron Oppenheim. Nowadays, thanks to the love and car of its current owners, it still retains most of its original character and features, providing elegant and generous accommodation.
The villa stands on its land extending up to approx 2000 sq m (half an acre) with lush landscaped gardens, planted with flowers and plants typical of the Mediterranean area.
The property can be reached by car and this is a very important detail that makes this property even more valuable, in fact, most of the houses located along the coastline cannot be reached by car due to the geographical shape of the territory that is usually very steep in this region. In addition, there is possibility to park 2 cars inside a large garage of 50 sq m located in the basement, next to spacious cantina rooms (cellars) of 66 sq m.
The living area of approx. 510 sq m is arranged on the upper floors. The ground level consists of a main entrance-hall, a large and bright living area comprising spacious living room with open fireplace, dining room, study/library room, sitting room, kitchen with pantry, 2 bedrooms and bathroom. In addition, there is a small apartment with its own separate entrance,
yet internally connected to the main house, comprising bedroom, bathroom and kitchen/dining room, an ideal space to accommodate your staff.
This entire floor benefits from numerous windows and doors opening on to the garden outside and on to the wide portico of 45 sq m, an ideal place where having "al-fresco" dining with family and friends enjoying the panorama.
The first floor consists of a large and comfortable sleeping area including 3 double bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and a master bedroom with studio/library room and door on to the panoramic terrace of 45 sq m, where relaxing in complete privacy while enjoying a wonderful scenario.
Outside in the garden you can admire an elegant infinity swimming pool facing the sea, this is one of the very few pools you will find in this area, in fact since 1990 it is forbidden to build swimming pools in this part of Liguria and this makes this property really special.

The Gulf of La Spezia, a narrow strip of land stretching from the town of Portovenere to the village of Lerici, is a dramatically beautiful area which features ancient fishing villages, steep cliffs that disappear into the blue waters below and gorgeous colours. It is also known as the Gulf oF Poets, in fact, its unique and immense natural beauty attracted artists from all over the world, many of them were British who felt in love with this land like Shelly and his wife Mary, David Herbert Lawrence, but also the famous Lord Byron, who used to find inspiration for his writing within a cave along the rocky coast near Portovenere, later nicknamed Byron's cave. A hilltop castle (St. George's castle) dominates the town of Lerici with its lovely marina, seven miles from la spezia, a grandiose specimen of medieval military architecture, built between 12th and 16th century, surrounded by massive walls that enclose several courtyards, a pentagonale tower and a Gothic chapel (Santa Anastasia's chapel). Standing on its parapets you can admire the town below, while from the castle hilly paths rise rapidly to reach scenic routes from which you can enjoy dramatic views of the whole bay.
